Amp Human PR Lotion alternative: LactiGo and other options

Last reviewed 4 October 2026

Quick answerLactiGo is the alternative of the same kind as PR Lotion: a product rubbed on before training. It rests on carnosine, not sodium bicarbonate; a 100 ml bottle is $55.00, PR Lotion's bottle $34.99 for 10.6 oz (300 g).

Amp Human PR Lotion alternative: the short answer

The Amp Human PR Lotion alternative of the same kind is LactiGo: like PR Lotion, it is a product rubbed on before training, but it rests on carnosine (a dipeptide of beta-alanine and histidine, per NOW's page) and magnesium sulfate, not sodium bicarbonate. A 100 ml bottle of either LactiGo gel is $55.00 one-time and a PR Lotion bottle lists at $34.99 for 10.6 oz (300 g), as read on 4 October 2026, so the two are not on one basis.

PR Lotion's page gives its bottle as 10.6 oz (300 g), a weight, while LactiGo is sold in ml, so its $34.99 list price is given per bottle, not per ml.

LactiGo: a carnosine gel in two versions

LactiGo's Original gel lists no menthol, and its Menthol gel lists menthol 1.25%. LactiGo's FAQ says LactiGo contains no sodium bicarbonate, so it rests on a different formula. Its 2025 study, by Beaven and colleagues, was a pilot of seven elite male rugby sevens players supported by Hong Kong Baptist University; the paper reports higher peak power in some sprints and no difference in mean power.

LactiGo's product pages say to apply the gel approximately 30 to 45 minutes before activity, though its FAQ and home page give other timings, so follow the directions on your package. PR Lotion's maker says 30 minutes before training or competition. LactiGo's store shows a 30-day money-back guarantee for a first order of one bottle, the same length PR Lotion's page shows for its own. LactiGo vs PR Lotion compares the two on ingredients, price and evidence.

Tiger Balm Muscle Rub: a cream with three listed actives

Tiger Balm Muscle Rub is a 2 oz (60 g) cream that lists methyl salicylate 15%, menthol 5% and camphor 3%. Its maker says it is designed for use before, during and after workouts. Tiger Balm's US site shows no price and sends buyers to retailers. Its page says for external use only, and to consult a doctor before use for children 12 or younger. This guide does not repeat Tiger Balm's pain claims.

Beta-alanine: a supplement, not a lotion

NOW's beta-alanine powder is taken by mouth: its page directs a half level teaspoon 3 to 4 times daily. NOW says beta-alanine may cause a temporary tingling sensation on the skin, and to consult a physician if pregnant, nursing, taking medication or with a medical condition. LactiGo vs beta-alanine compares the two kinds.

When to stay with PR Lotion

Stay with PR Lotion if you want sodium bicarbonate, which LactiGo's FAQ says LactiGo does not contain. PR Lotion lists at $34.99 for a 10.6 oz (300 g) bottle, with a buy 4, get 1 free bundle of five bottles at $139.00 and free US shipping on orders of $99 or more.

Its maker says it begins working in about 30 minutes and that its effects last 5 to 6 hours; that is the maker's claim. No head-to-head study of PR Lotion against any option in this table was found. The LactiGo review covers what the 2025 study of LactiGo measured.
