LactiGo and PR Lotion are both rubbed on before training, and they rest on different ingredients: LactiGo on carnosine (a dipeptide of beta-alanine and histidine, per NOW's beta-alanine page) and magnesium sulfate, PR Lotion on sodium bicarbonate. LactiGo is $55.00 one-time for a 100 ml bottle and PR Lotion lists at $34.99 for a 10.6 oz (300 g) bottle, as read on 4 October 2026. The two prices are not on one basis, so neither product is called cheaper here.

What each product contains

LactiGo's Original gel lists carnosine and magnesium sulfate and no menthol; its Menthol gel adds menthol 1.25%. LactiGo's FAQ says LactiGo contains no sodium bicarbonate. PR Lotion's maker describes it as a topical sodium bicarbonate formula, and its ingredient panel, as the page describes it, also lists menthol with no amount.

What each maker says and what has been studied

PR Lotion's maker says it begins working in about 30 minutes and that its effects last 5 to 6 hours; that is the maker's claim. Its page lists three studies related to the product. This guide did not read them, and the page does not say any tested PR Lotion itself. Its ingredient panel, as described on the page, shows a logo of Informed Sport, a banned-substance testing program; the page does not say which batches.

The 2025 study of LactiGo, by Beaven and colleagues, was a pilot of seven elite male rugby sevens players supported by Hong Kong Baptist University. It reported higher peak power in some sprints and no difference in mean power. No head-to-head study of LactiGo against PR Lotion was found.
